Dear subscribers,
I thought I could email my latest column on great Austin clubs first to paid subscribers, weighing their feedback on a blindspot or two, and then sending the updated email to all subscribers. But it looks like you only get one shot, so I’m including a link to that list here. Sorry to clog your inbox, but this is a good one! My upcoming book is a celebration of the live music venues that have made Austin famous, as well as those that made us cool. Sorry for any duplication emails.
Some news: my second book on Austin music history, a sequel to “Austin Music is a Scene Not a Sound,” has been send off to the Wittliff Collection, which will sponsor the book with Texas A&M Press. I finished it in late March, but waited until April 1, my 40th anniversary of Austin clubbing, to send it in, ceremonially. Maybe that’ll give it a little more mojo!

Spellman's changed my life. Glad to see it in honorable mention. There were times when some body would play and you just couldn't believe that sound was coming out of that tiny misfit bar.
