Another fantastically great chapter, Michael. I would add this detail: Le Lollipop was on Lakeshore Blvd, that spur that runs along the river. The address was 1818 S. Lakeshore. Now it's condos. Not sure if the place was leveled before the condos or not. But it was the private club at a swinging new apartment complex when it opened.
Thanks. I meant to say "off Riverside" with Le Lollipop. It burned down in '66. It seems a lot of apartment complexes had little venues, like the Cricket Club, also off Riverside.
I remember seeing Rusty Weir in the mid-70s during the “Don’t It Make You Wanna Dance” period. That was a rockin’ little tune with a great guitar solo. The song was later covered by Bonnie Raitt, but it was a pale imitation of the original. One minor correction: There is no Belton County in Central Texas. The town of Belton is in Bell County. I really enjoy your writing. Keep up the great work!
