Poi Dog Pondering is one of my favorite bands. Great performers, great songs.

Sorry, I didn't mean to publish this today. I was working on it, and thought I was just saving it. Oh, well, can't get it back. Look for PDP's 40th anniversary tour in Austin in late October.

Dang- if you can’t edit, maybe a part 2? It seems like you wanted to say more at the end and I’d love to read it since Frank called this the most accurate piece on early Poi he’s ever read, and it had some fun tidbits/memories for us 30+ year diehard fans. Great job!

Thanks. I have an upcoming book on Austin music history, so I wrote mainly about their Austin years, and how they got here. But the band definitely got better when they moved to Chicago.

Loving it thus far - if there's more to come, that's even better!

Thank you for revealing a band that I've only heard in a couple of songs on KGSR compilations. I really did like their fresh approach and their acoustic space and not just in your face band. Since I came and went the same time I left Austin I really never got to know anything about them. I appreciate your revelations.

great article when I 1st saw Poi Dog I had no idea where they had even came from but that was a different music scene Austin was going through then ever changing and morphing styles -hope that doesn’t change with today’s music in Austin

I loved reading this. I started working for them in 95 (still do) but now I can picture with my minds eye the “Austin Years”. Wonderful storytelling.

A beautiful piece on a beautiful band. I have every one of those cassettes. PdP is legend, and the story continues. Putting "Pomegranite" on next.
