Thank you so much for your Substack. Your memories have filled in so many blank spots for me. Having been in Austin since 1971 there is no way I can remember alk the music I heard. You amaze me. Look forward to having it in book form too. 💙📚🎶

"If Slacker has been made today, it would be called Influencer" - THIS IS IT. This very sentence sums up everything that creates the feeling of untether I have for my beloved city. But honestly, it's the whole world, isn't it? We want Slacker back. Or I do, at least.

This is a momentous undertaking. Much like trying to type an e-mail describing how to master the Rubik's cube. I've enjoyed your posts, and the snark, but like all of us who don't live in Austin, we get the feeling that we are back in high school, and you and your friends are on the yearbook staff. So we don't ever get to see our photos in the high school annual. Yes, Austin IS cool (no doubt) but not as cool as everyone there thinks it is.

(Full disclosure: I visited Austin more times than I can count back in the 70s-80s with the late, great Stoney Burns. He wasn't from Austin, but he should have been.)

Can't wait to see the book.
