Nice to see more Dallas names in yet another piece on Austin music. Angus Wynne and Jack Calmes would form SHOWCO, the largest touring support company in the US at the time. The beatnik, or "hippie" club Maggie Cowart refers to was most likely The Cellar. Funny how a lot of Dallas DNA runs through Austin. Good piece, as always.
One concert I wish I had never missed. But I was only 16 with a learner's driver's permit back then. It's great to see the old Hemphills and Blomquist Clark on the flyers for tickets.
The next year would be my first Austin events at local clubs. The Bills Capri was certainly the visiting cultural residence back then.
Amazing! Used to live in Austin! Probably in CarolynnHester’s apartment! 😁 Loved Austin. Love Austin history. Love the Band (and Dylan too, of course!)
I remember this concert. Was in the balcony section. The Band was all dressed in black leather. And yeah, it was pretty loud.
Excellent, Michael! You really put it all together in this one.

Another good one, Michael. Bravo!
I was very fortunate to be at Doris Miller Auditorium for this incredible experience. Truly amazing
Wow! That's certainly a "wish I was there" night.
