I heard the Castle Creek story from both Tim and Doug Moyes. Doug later had success with Castle Creek 2.0 in Grand Junction CO in the early 80’s. Doug passed a few years ago at his home in Telluride CO.

Before we moved to Austin in 1977 we lived in Madeira Beach Florida. Sometime before that I took my wife to a bar in John's Pass for her birthday, a real dive bar which was about all there were back then on the beach .That and tit bars. Anyways we get there and it is packed which was real unusual so we decide to take our business elsewhere. And we missed a Jimmy Buffett show and are left with only this sad story. Adios Jimmy .

At one point Buffet was famous in Austin for the song, "Let's Get Drunk and Screw", around the time Buffet was doing solo gigs around Austin. I seem to remember an ad for a gig with the song title under his name. I don't think that is something my mind just made up. It really happened. I think.

Fred, that sounds familiar, I remember the song. The address is also familiar as I lived in a duplex around the corner on Thorn Cliff.

saw him JB at Castle Creek (that I think pre dated that venue as the “Checkered Flag Club”)when I was student age but such a venue for such an artist
